Collecting Stuff and Memories

BottlesAre you a collector? Well, I suppose all of us are, to some degree. It’s that degree I’m wondering about.

I’ve been in homes with lovely curated collections and in homes with wild un-curated collections. Guess which homes feel good…the ones with the comfortable energy flow, of course.

One of the main concerns of feng shui is clutter. Unwieldy collections not only clutter our homes, they fog our minds, narrow our breathing space, and sap our energy. Think of the dust! Think of the maintenance!

Take a look around your home. Do you have a collection that overwhelms your space? Does it consume your time and your energy? If so, determine to start the curating process immediately.

Is your collection:
• still interesting and making you happy?
• the first thing guests notice when they enter your home?
• packed away in storage?
• uninspiring and depressing?
• making you crazy?

If your collection still makes you happy, think about carefully curating it and rotating pieces for a refreshing change.

If you are getting comments like, “Wow, you must really dig fairies, frogs, footballs, rolling pins cupie dolls” it may be time to think about scaling back and reevaluating your collection clutter.

If it’s uninspiring and depressing, get rid of it already! Who need emotional baggage anyway?

If it’s making you crazy, GET HELP!

If it’s packed away, don’t even think about looking in the box. Donate it immediately!
You’ll be amazed how you’ll lighten up your life and gain a fresh perspective on collections.

Collecting memories; that’s something you can’t overdo.

The one place that having a large collection adds to your story, instead of cluttering it, is collecting memories. The only way to do that is to get out of the house, be bold and experience the epic-ness of life, dare yourself to go on new adventures, try new things, enjoy the best views the world has to offer, get inspired with good conversation and great food.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Have you done something just for you lately?

It’s time.
